StrengthsQuest
In order to help WURHA further develop their leadership skills, the WURHA 2012 conference will be focused around StrengthsQuest. StrengthsQuest is on online evaluation of, and training in, a person’s top five leadership strengths such as Responsibility, Positive, Achiever, and Harmony. This assessment and training will help delegates determine which of the domains, Strategic Thinking, Relationship Building, Executing, or Influencing, they fall into and ultimately what their leadership style is.
Pre-Conference, delegates will take the StrengthsQuest assessment, unless they have done so previously. (If this is the case, the StrengthsQuest fee will be waived from their delegate fee) Once delegates have completed their assessment they will be able to complete the Individual Delegate Registration Form. At the conference, delegate’s strengths will appear on their nametags, door decs and schools’ banners. The Keynote Speaker, Tom Matson will discuss the importance and effects of knowing ones strengths. On Saturday delegates will participate in a small group Strengths Training devoted to helping delegates take ownership in their Strengths, and later in the day another short training will be offered for delegates to learn about how their Strengths work within a group setting.
By providing the necessary tools and making Athletes aware of their top 5 Strengths, we hope to give them a better understanding of their leadership style and what it means to them. Hopefully, after the delegates leave the conference, they will be able to apply their Strengths knowledge to their everyday leadership experiences making them more effective leaders.
